Cupcake Friday.

Today was the best day ever. We got to do maths (multiplying, dividing and fractions), read and follow instructions,  work collaboratively, create a piece of art and share food. Yes, all that through making and decorating cupcakes! Who said learning wasn't fun?

We had some amazing helpers - Jeanne  (The lovely Youssef's Mum), Sophia (Youssef's auntie), Cheryl and of course our lovely student teacher Mrs Ukataula.

Look at our day unfold.

Cupcake Recipe (makes 24)

Ingredients:

3 cups of self-raising flour

250g butter, softened

2 teaspoons vanilla essence

1 ½ Cs sugar

4 Eggs, lightly beaten

1 Cup Milk

1) Preheat oven to 180°C or 160° fan heated. Line 2, 12 x ⅓ cup muffin trays with paper cases.

2) Sift flour into a large mixing bowl, add butter, sugar, vanilla, eggs. Using an electric mixer, beat on low speed (or 2 mins. Increase speed; beat for 3 minutes more until mixture is pale and smooth. Spoon batter into trays dividing equally.

3) Bake for 15-20 minutes or until cooked tested with a skewer. Carefully lift out of the tray and cool. Then decorate.

We halved the recipe for each group.

Good to go.

And we're off!

The best part - licking the spoons!

The responsible part - cleaning up!

The most saisfying part - successful outcome!

Planning our cupcake designs.

Decorating our cakes What fun!

It had to be a space theme of course!

The ultimate best part - eating our cupcakes!

Thanks Jeanne, Sophia, Cheryl and Mrs Ukutaula for a wonderful day!
