What has flying paper planes got to do with science?
Indeed you may ask. Today we learnt about 3 different forms of energy. Potential energy is energy that is waiting, kinetic energy is energy that is moving and mechanical energy is the sum of these which creates work and causes something to move - Ole!
So... back to paper planes. When we are holding our planes we are showing potential energy. When we throw the plane we are showing kinetic energy and the movement of the plane which we have caused is mechanical energy. So there you are then . Question answered!
Apart from learning some important science concepts , it was just good fun!!!
I learnt a lot! Saadia told me all about it! I learnt three new words!

ReplyDeleteI think that Room 15 might need to enter into a paper plane making competition. I learnt a lot about the three words, potential, kinetic and mechanical energy just from reading your blog post Room 5 - cool!

ReplyDeleteI loved making the paper plans and flying them.My paper plan went about 70 cm.we decorated them we put flowers on them.
ReplyDeleteHey you guys we had 2 visitors from room 5 Aleesha and Zoe from room 5.You should be in a digital class because you can access the world and you can do that by researching stuff and much more.You don’t have to do handwriting you can just type on a Chromebook.You don’t have to look for your books because you have a fully working Chromebook. And your Chromebook only cost $520 and it is yours forever and you can work at home.

ReplyDeletea hand writing issues then a laptop can help you a lot.
Wow I love the paper planes but what if next year you should join the digital class next year because it's better than using pencil and paper and if you have bad hand writing or have spelling problems then come to the digital class and it's new,easy and you can take your Chromebook anywhere. Chromebooks are a learning tool so it's good to come to the digital class and one more thing Chromebooks are good for communicating and sharing to other people from around the world.

I think that it will be a great opportunity to come to the digital class meeting on Thursday and it would be a new and fun way of learning.In the digital classroom you can do heaps of things that are different from other classrooms and experience new tools that the digital class uses.
ReplyDeleteHi room 5 if you are a year 4 you could come to the digital class next year think of all the things you could with just a chromebook doing studdy ladder and sumdog for maths writng on a doc reading sites like story online storynory things like that you also read normal books and questions you can type faster than on paper you sometimes can play games you could take your chromebook home everynight if your perents alow you.
