Planting on a Friday

This afternoon we joined Rooms 22 and 25 to plant herb seeds. We planted chives.  Hopefully they will grow soon and we can sell them as seedlings on Market Day.

Week 5's Award

This week Mr Tupou received the Principal's Award for being the best he  could be by being brave and giving writing by himself a go. An independent writer in the making.  Well done Tupou! Keep being brave and write those great stories that I know are just waiting to be put down on paper.

Darcy, you practiced your presentation for your buddy and you nailed it. Well done you!

Building Challenges

We watched the news clip on the collapsing bridge in Genoa, Italy. It  was amazing but very sad because we know lots of people got hurt or died.
Later in the day Mrs Dobbie set us a challenge to  build the highest, longest but strongest bridge with these cardboard bricks. The test was that our bridge had to be strong enough to withstand a gale force wind (Mrs Dobbie flapping a piece of cardboard). All our bridges passed!

Here's what we came up with.

We thought ours looked like a crocodile!

Next we had to build the tallest building which could support a tennis ball.

We really enjoyed these challenges. Mrs Dobbie said we could do some more another day!

Operation Marigold's Playground

Divya, our lovely student teacher is leading this project - Marigold's playground.  We decided that she needs a grassed area and some toys to play with and a tube or pipe of some sort to go through.

Before we start though, we need to clear up and tidy her enclosure.

Hopefully it will look like the plan soon.

Real Pizzas

It's all very well to make fraction pizzas but you can't beat real pizzas.  Here we are making our lunch with Jeanne, Youssef's mum and Divya.

Yum and fun. What more could you ask for?

Fraction Pizzas

We always learn about fractions with pizzas. So we thought we would make our own.

We had to design our pizza, and then make it.

What do you think?

Who said learning can't be fun?
