Gung Hee Fat Choy

Or Happy New Year to all.

Chinese New Year is a time to celebrate with family and friends - laughing, eating and spending time together.

We learnt that Chinese New Year lasts for 15 days, ending with the lantern festival. Many of us went to the one held in the Domain in Auckland.

At Chinese New Year adults give children lycee packets. They are red and gold usylually and contain money. The colour red symbolises good luck.

We decided to make fortune cookies to share with our Buddies.  We wrote a little fortune for each cookie and placed them and the cookie inside a red packet. The red packets were all hand made by our second lovely student teacher Divya.

Here are some photos of us making the cookies,  giving the cookies to our buddies and most importantly of all... eating the cookies!
