你好 / Nǐ hǎo It's Chinese Language Week

In New Zealand and in our school there are many Chinese people who speak Mandarin and Cantonese. This was a special week to celebrate these 2 languages and learn more about the Chinese people, their language and their culture.

We were very lucky to have our Chinese children share their knowledge with us.

Paper cutting is an ancient Chinese artwork. Louie created this pattern using gold paper. Isn't it superb?

Angela and her Mum made mooncakes. These are only made for the Moon Festival which is celebrated each year in August.

She even got to practise her fractions with the mooncakes. Clever girl!

We learnt about the 12 animals of the Chinese Zodiac and discovered that most of Room 6 were born in the Year of the Horse. Mrs Dobbie was born in the Year of the Dragon, so watch out!
