SOCIAL STUDIES

IT'S ELECTION TIME !

This term the school is learning about the election system in New Zealand. We have learnt about the democratic process of electing a leader. The person with the majority of votes wins.

Room 5 decided to run their own democratic election. We have 4 parties, each with leaders and policies. Each of the parties are campaigning for the right to organise and run the end of term party and shared lunch in the last week of term.

Check out some of our candidates' speeches trying to persuade the citizens of Room 5 to vote them in as leaders of their parties!

Our Political Parties are campaigning to be elected as the Government for next Thursday when that party will run the day as an end of term party day. We are wearing our campaign badges every day and displaying our policies around the classroom. At the moment we are working on our presentations to present to the citizens of Room 5 to persuade them to vote for us on Election Day - Tuesday 23 September.

Here are our campaign posters and policies. Who would you vote for?

Look out for our presentations!
