CHINESE NEW YEAR   Chinese zodiac monkey by dimalique

GUNG HEE FAT CHOY!

Happy Chinese New Year to you all! This year is the year of the monkey. The chinese zodiac is a repeating cycle of 12 years and each year is represented by an animal. They are the Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, Pig.  We looked at the cycle and discovered that Mrs Dobbie is a Dragon (that explains everything!), and the rest of us are either pigs or rats (Mrs Dobbie's not sure what that means!).

We learnt that Chinese New Year lasts 15 days and ends with the Lantern festival celebration. On New Year's Day the Chinese people wear new clothes and give red packets containing money to their children. Fortune cookies are made and eaten too. We decided wish our buddies in Room 7 Happy Chinese New Year by making them some Fortune Cookies and sharing eating them.

Here's some pics of our day!
This is how we mix the dough!
Patiently waiting for our turn!
Ready to be baked in the oven!
