What is a Statistical Investigation?
We know now that a Statistical Investigation is a process to collect data and find out information that may help someone make a decision.
Any statistical investigation involves steps.
1. Ask a question.
2. Collect the data.
3. Use the data collected to make a graph.
4. Analyse the results shown by the graph.
As a class we asked the question: What is your favourite flavour ice cream?
The results were:
Cookies and cream
Goody goody gum drops
Hokey pokey
Mint chocolate chip
...and here is our graph.
Mrs Dobbie knows now that if she ever were to buy the class some ice cream that the one flavour that the majority of the class would love is mint chocolate!
